russia attacked peaceful Ukraine. Kharkiv residents woke up at 5 a.m. on February 24 from explosions, and after that there was not a single day in the Kharkiv region without destruction, deaths and injuries. Many people, saving their lives, were forced to leave their homes. Some people died, and their pets were left to fend for themselves. Therefore, many domestic animals ended up abandoned on the street.
Kharkiv city shelter Municipal enterprise “Animal Treatment Center” is the largest shelter for animals in Kharkiv and the Kharkiv region. The work of the shelter is to save the lives of four-legged friends, take them from dangerous places, treat them and find them new families. Every day, shelter workers take hungry, frightened and injured animals from the streets.
The shelter veterinarians save the lives of animals by performing complex operations. Shelter workers retrieve animals from under rubble, rescue them under fire from dangerous areas of the city.
But very soon, a difficult period will come to the Kharkiv city shelter, when the number of abandoned animals on the street will exceed the number of enclosures and it will not be able to shelter everyone who needs help. Therefore, the issue of building new enclosures is currently the most important at this time.
The management of the shelter has long understood that the shelter needs to be expanded and even in peacetime allocated a place for development and developed a project. But the question was not as urgent as today! Everything went according to plan, but the war happened…

Since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine, the city of Kharkiv has lost more than a million residents. Some of them could not take their pets with them. Now the streets of the city are roamed by packs of hungry homeless animals. Saving them from hunger and taking them off the streets is the main task of the Kharkiv City Shelter.
There is no funding for this in the city budget, because there are not enough funds to restore destroyed residential buildings, schools and hospitals. Therefore, we are appealing to the whole world to help us raise funds for the construction of additional enclosures for Kharkiv’s animals.
According to the estimates, UAH 24,524,170 is needed for the building, including:
